Wayne Claims D-I State Title Over Westerville South, 65-57 March 30, 2015 With both teams fighting for their first state championship, it was Wayne who battled hardest to claim the 65-57 win and the OHSAA D-I title. A poor shooting first half by Westerville South (2-8 from beyond the arc and 1-7 FTs) allowed the Warriors to take an 11-point advantage heading into the half. Wayne capitalized early and often on the Wildcats' mistakes while also shooting 51.4% from the field and 84.2% from the free throw line. Senior D'mitrik Trice was the difference maker for the state-champion Warriors as he scored a game-high 19 points, 9 of which came from 3-point range. Sophomore Kaleb Wesson had 15 for the state-runner up Wildcats. Westerville South finishes their unforgettable season at 27-2.
Westerville South Marches on to State Final, Rallies Past Garfield Heights 60-57 March 28, 2015 Westerville South reached their first State Final with a 60-57 come-from-behind win over Garfield Heights. Down 10 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd, Westerville South slowly worked their way back and claimed the lead with 5:38 left in the final quarter. Turnovers and countless missed buckets by the Bulldogs gave South easy transition points. Sophomore Kaleb Wesson was Mr. Clutch as he knocked down all 4 of his FT attempts in the final 2 minutes that helped put Garfield Heights away. K. Wesson finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Andre Wesson also added 17 points. The Wildcats will next play Wayne in the State Championship game Saturday night, 8:30 p.m. at the Schottenstein Center.

The Wildcats (26-1, 13-1) have already claimed an OCC-Cardinal Championship, a District Championship, and the school's first Regional Championship. Next on the list: a State Championship. Westerville South faces Garfield Heights (22-3, 9-1) in the State Semifinal this Friday at 5:15 in the Schottenstein Center. A win would pit the Wildcats against the winner of St. Edward's and Wayne.
Wildcats Earn First Final Four Trip, Defeat Northland 70-63 March 23, 2015 With their first ever trip to the state tournament calling, Westerville South responded with a strong 70-63 team win over Northland. The Wildcats used their quickness in transition offense to get easy points throughout the game, led by junior Andre Wesson's 20 points. Up 41-39 heading into the final quarter, South used a strong 13-0 run to spur on the victory and punch their ticket to the program's first final four. Westerville South (26-1) advances to play Garfield Heights (24-3) in the State Semifinal on Friday, March 27th at 5:15 pm at the Schottenstein Center.
Walnut Ridge Outmuscles John Glenn for 48-44 Regional Final Win March 23, 2015 John Glenn’s season came to an end with a 48-44 loss to Walnut Ridge in the Regional Finals. Poor shooting plagued the Muskies in the first half as they were only able to shoot 25 percent from the floor, trailing 20-14 at half. Drew Rackley scored 9 points over a two minute span in the third quarter to tie it up at 32 heading into the fourth quarter. Walnut Ridge went on a 6-0 run, including buckets down low by Malik Harrison extending the Scots lead to 44-40 with 3:40 remaining. John Glenn was within 3 with 22.2 seconds left, but a turnover allowed Walnut Ridge to hit a free throw and seal the victory. John Glenn finished the season 24-1.
