Tri-Valley Basketball 2015 DVD Trailer May 26, 2015 Tri-Valley capped a historic 2014-15 season with the school's first appearance to the District Finals at the Division-I level. The Scotties (20-5, 14-2) boasted a strong senior class led by sharp-shooters Camden Craig and Matt Gray, and the down-low forces of CJ Ecleberry and Daniel Scott. Tri-Valley also had clutch performances from role players as well as junior standout Marcus Dempsey. 2015 marked the 3rd straight year Tri-Valley hosted a Division-I tournament game showing the continued improvement at the highest level of play. The biggest story of the year was when the No. 16 Scotties upset No. 6 New Albany to advance to the District Finals. Camden Craig was the hero of that game scoring 23 points including the game-winning layup as well as six 3-pointers. The win will go down as arguably Tri-Valley's biggest win in school history for Boys Basketball. This DVD trailer previews the team's full length feature film produced, filmed, and edited by Storied Rivals Sports Media, LLC.
Upper Arlington Basketball 2015 DVD Trailer May 26, 2015 The Golden Bears finished the 2014 season as State Runner Ups, and the 2015 Bears looked to build on that success. Upper Arlington (17-6, 12-5) returned six seniors from the State Runner Up team in, Griffin Caldwell, Michael McGovern, Gabe Akins, Austin Heath, Carter Casey and Wynn Brown, and added some talented under classman in Onno Steger and Dane Goodwin in hopes to repeat the success of previous years. After a rocky start for Upper Arlington, 3-3 in their first six games, the Golden Bears finally got a chance against rival Coffman who was ranked in the top five in the state. Upper Arlington jumped out to an early lead and never trailed to hand Coffman their first loss of the season. Unfortunately Upper Arlington's season came to a end in the first round of the playoffs against Groveport Madison but the Golden Bears gained valuable experience and built a foundation for years to come. This DVD trailer previews the team's full length feature film produced, filmed, and edited by Storied Rivals Sports Media, LLC.
Westerville Central Knocks Out Newark, 5-0, in District Final May 25, 2015 Newark's impressive playoff run was shut down by Gavin Lyon (Ohio State commit) and the top-seeded Warhawks in a 5-0 loss in the District Final. Despite scoring 28 runs in their previous 3 playoff contests, the 23rd-seeded 'Cats couldn't find the gaps, mustering just 1 hit and 1 walk against Lyon. Newark held the high-scoring 'Hawks to 1 run after 3 innings but couldn't keep them at bay much longer as Westerville Central slowly built up the lead. The loss marks the end of Newark's cinderella run through the D-I Central District where they toppled the #6 and #14 seeds.
Shackleford, Mye Lead 'Cats to 5-4 Win Over Marysville May 19, 2015 It took 12 innings, but Newark's cinderella run through the playoffs continued with a 5-4 win over Marysville in the District Semis. Darius Shackleford's 2-run home run got the 'Cats started in the 2nd inning. After Marysville tied things up in the 5th, both teams were unable to plate a runner over the next 6 innings until a Zach Dickson bunt brought home Dillon Coventry in the top of the 12th. Josh Gant had an RBI-single to pad the lead as Shackleford held off the Monarchs in the bottom half for the win. Trevor Mye threw 9 strikeouts over 10 innings for Newark. The 'Cats (#23) advance to the District Final on Wednesday at Otterbein to face #1 Westerville Central for a trip to Regionals.
Newark Smacks Orange 12-2 to Advance to District Semis May 15, 2015 Newark's offense was in high gear in a 12-2 rout of #6 Orange over 6 innings. The 23-seeded 'Cats posted the biggest seed upset of the D-I playoffs so far but Newark hardly played like an underdog. The 'Cats bats abused the Pioneer pitchers to the tune of 11 hits while senior pitcher Trevor Mye allowed just 3 hits in a complete game win. Seniors Julian Williams and Darius Shackleford led the offense with 3 RBIs each while junior Nate Munyan knocked in 2. Newark advances to the District Semifinals where they'll play #14 Marysville at 5 pm Monday at Grove City HS.
